Preliminary Guzzi blogging

OK. i won an auction for this on ebay. hopefully i will not regret it. it's a 1999 moto guzzi bassa with 10,700 miles on it. 1064 ccs. note the custom leather saddle and footboards. now i have to get it here from austin, tx. once i do i will put up some more pictures. by the way, i have a 1978 suzuki gs400 for sale if anyone is interested.

I sometimes posted, but lately just lurk, over at another site where I read your comment about getting the new bike.

Man, if that thing runs at all, I don't see how you'll regret it. That is a true thing of beauty. :)

I hope we get to read about your ride back on it.

(I'm moving up from a Suzuki Boulevard S40 to a C50C this spring, myself.)

Congrats!

hey man, nice bike. not that i know about such things, but aesthetics are there.

my bud bought an Indian off ebay. he regreted it. maybe if he hadn't torn it apart and put back together 9 times.

well, don't be nervous, his bike was fine, he just thought he could make it better. now he's into sailboats, no doubt you'll have no need for one of those.

Nice! It looks straight and clean. Guzzis are generally well-sorted and reliable (like a hot Beemer with the cylinders shoved up a few degrees!)

I don't know much about this particular model (since the mid-90s, Guzzy seem to be pumping out new models for short runs (usually thought of as the "Japanese approach"). This can be a problem in the longer run for sourcing spare parts, and also can exacerbate that "first model" problem, where the best designs in the world still have unforeseen teething problems which don't get soorted out until the second or third iteration of the model)...

It looks like a hoot to ride!

actually, as far as i can tell, they keep making pretty much the same bike and just give them different names. this one is basically a california.
